A former monastery dating back to the 17th Century, Relais San Maurizio has been restored with maximum respect for the original structure, plus all the best technology has to offer to ensure your comfort. A magical and hidden place, it reveals its secrets to you through all of its magnificent architecture and poetry.

The gourmet restaurant Guido, is located in the original cellars of the monastery, complete with exposed stonework and barrel vaults.

The rooms, obtained from the former monks’ cells, open on to the long and evocative corridor which, at one time, the monks walked along in prayer. The rooms are in two buildings: the Villa Principale (Main House) and Antico Fienile (Old Barn). Each of the 31 rooms is unique in atmosphere, furnishing and decoration. There is an open fireplace in almost all the suites.

Here, there is all the experience and knowledge of Caudalie. The Vinothérapie® specialists are trained in Bordeaux and carry out the famous Caudalie treatments. Created by Caudalie of Bordeaux, France, the new Vinothérapie® Spa in the Relais San Maurizio is an oasis of wellbeing in the heart of the vineyards of Piedmont.

All Caudalie massages are based on ultra-refined grape seed oil, noted for its nourishing and softening properties. The oil preserves the hydration level of the skin, restoring the natural elasticity. The unique and exclusive nature of the facial treatments means that the care program can be personalized. Treatment is carried out in elegant cabins fitted with ultra-modern equipment. Only the stabilized polyhydric phenols contained in Caudalie products are used to obtain skin which is more firm, healthy and luminous.

Gommage Crushed Cabernet®: a real "starter" for the Vinothérapie® treatments. This exfoliating treatment based on grape seed oil, honey and essential oils of organic origin was created to free the skin of dead cells; ideal before exposure to the sun.

Massage Pulpe Friction®: full body treatment based on fresh grapes for luminous, soft and hydrated skin due to the natural active ingredients in the fruit (to be booked 24 hours before and only in the period of the grape harvest).

It all started in 1993, when Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, a young couple who would later set up Caudalie, met an eminent professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Bordeaux, at Château Smith Haut Lafitte. What the two future entrepreneurs discovered from the professor was a revolution in the world of dermo-cosmetic anti-age treatments. The professor was able to show that the tiny pips in a grape contain the polyhydric phenols of the grape. Once stabilized, they are a treasure for skin as they are the strongest "free radical traps" in the plant kingdom.

Thus Caudalie invented the first Spa in the Bordeaux (France) area, the first for Vinothérapie® in the world and opened in 1999.
