Olive oil has long been a treasured beauty secret in Italy. Olive trees grow throughout Italy and Apulia is home to an impressive one-third of Italy's olive trees! Olive oil has the antioxidants Vitamins E and A, and is very helpful against sun damage. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant with skin moisturizing systems, prevents skin irritation and premature aging of the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant and has skin regenerative properties. It helps the skin stay soft, smooth and firm, increases elasticity and has anti-aging benefits. Olive oil is great for relaxing massages and is perfect for sensitive skin. Olive oil softens and hydrates without blocking the natural function of the skin.

Did you know that the grape seed contains a concentration of antioxidants several times stronger than vitamins C or E? Grape seed extracts contain compounds called procyanidolic oligomers (PCOs). PCOs are powerful antioxidants that help inhibit a number of enzymes which degrade connective tissue such as elastase, collagenase, and hyaluronidase. This “miracle seed” seeks out and attacks the elements in skin which accelerate aging, stimulates collagen synthesis, and helps to actually reverse the signs of aging.

Thalassotherapy, from the Greek word, thalassa - sea, is an ancient and effective method of relaxation and rejuvenation based on the use of sea water resources: sea water, sea climate, seaweed, mud and sand.

Thanks to the similarity between the chemical composition of sea water and the human body, sea water has a revitalizing, cleansing and disinfecting effect. Given the right conditions of temperature and humidity human skin becomes highly osmotic and permits interaction between the sea water and its plasma.

Sea water, mainly containing sodium chloride, is also rich in other minerals. Iodine, iron, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, sulphur, potassium and others pass through the skin (by the process of osmosis) and reach the blood cells, stimulating and regenerating, preventing and curing many diverse pathologies:

  • Allergies
  • Bone related illnesses
  • Circulation problems
  • Respiratory problems
  • Skin problems
  • Osteo-articular rehabilitation

Many other problems related to obesity, inflammation of tendons, muscles, nerves and particular female problems are helped considerably by thalassotherapy. Therapeutic bathing helps eliminate toxins and improves muscle tone, even helps to stimulate the release of cellulite. The sea climate with the correct exposure to sun, mineral salts and ions causes positive effects on the human metabolism and respiratory process.

Seaweed, when used in specific treatments, has many beneficial effects and is particularly useful in anti cellulite treatments and facial masks.

Mud, as far as thalassotherapy is concerned, is a concentrated paste made up from marine flora and fauna residue and is used in baths or applied directly on to the skin. When heated it is very effective soothing pain.

Thalassotherapy treatments can be combined with other natural methods of massage (therapeutic, thai, toning, ayurvedic, shiatsu), relaxation, beauty treatments, light gymnastics, sauna and turkish baths available from the Wellness Center and integrated with a personalized planned diet enjoyed in idyllic surroundings.
