ZenSpa
If you are searching for a haven in the midst of the chaos, then ZenSpa nestled in Calabasas, right outside of LA, will satisfy your need for a complete spa experience. This is a complete escape from the city, but only a short drive. With a name like ZenSpa, it has to be good! My favorite part is the quiet Zen Room, with soft, comfy loungers and a peaceful waterfall. Just sitting in this space was enough to calm my nerves from the freeway.
I had the ZenSpa Detoxify Experience, which began with a cup of Ron Teeguarden tea in the Zen Room. Then I was escorted into the jetted whirlpool bathroom where a giant mermaid mural greeted me. The bath was a bit too hot for me, so I had to add some cool water and soaked for awhile. Back to the Zen Room to be revived by purified oxygen cocktail. A sterile plastic tube was attached to my nostrils to feed me pure air and clean out my sinuses. It was great after the toxic fumes from the road. I felt at once clear headed and unpolluted. My next treatment in this mega-experience was the Ayurvedic Massage in a themed room. Every room has a different atmosphere and this one was tropical and felt "away from it all". Especially when I was exfoliated from head to toe with a Balinese Thai Coconut Scrub complete with head and neck massage. My skin felt smooth as silk.
The best part about the ZenSpa is that it is so close to LA yet feels as if you have escaped. My recommendation is that you spend a few hours there, not just run in and get a quick massage. The full impact can be a pure serenity. Many of their signature treatments are unique and combine several 'a la carte' therapies to give you optimum results. From a Java/lava Bath to a detoxifying wrap or scrub, you can also pamper your tootsies with a Sea Salt and Flower Pedicure. The combination of amenities is the best way to go.
The most unique experience is the ZenSpa Classical Rock Massage. This is not your typical "hot rock" treatment. In fact, it doesn't use rocks at all; it is referring to Musically Inspired Massage Treatments! They have created 3 choreographed massages that will uplift your mind/body/ soul as well as your ears! You have a choice of "Days of Future Passed", the 1966 Moody Blues release, or Dark Side of the Moon, (Pink Floyd) or for more classical tastes, Vivaldi's remarkable Baroque concerto, Four Seasons. It is meant to be a dual experience of intimate proportions, two massage tables lying side by side with you and your significant other, having synchronistic massages. This will certainly Rock Your World!
So take a day off from the world and spend it at ZenSpa, 818.591.0046, or check out their website at www.ThisIsZenSpa.com. Your body/mind/spirit will thank you!
