  Power Lunch Primer

The Power Lunch trend is now moving into new territory. Instead of going to Barney Greengrass or The Grill, the latest hip way to spend your lunch break is to escape from the networking crowds and treat yourself to the ultimate experience for the body/mind/spirit. It's all happening at the Maria De Sio Skincare salon in Beverly Hills. Not just another pretty face on the beauty scene, Maria and her cast of “Beauty Muses” offers the absolute best in state of the art anti-aging and body treatments in the city and perhaps the whole country!

From CEO's to trophy wives, mega models and just plain beauty-conscious folk, everyone is signing up for the series of clinically designed treatments. Her high profile clients are in the public eye and insist on only the best care. In addition to her power peels, she is the pioneer in creating the Oxygen Crystal Facial.

This unique process combines the microdermabrasion technique with the ECHO2 Oxygen procedure. This extremely effective process exfoliates, cleanses, hydrates and oxygenates using 87 different vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids. The end result of this resurfacing and healing method is vibrant, healthy skin that glows, by stimulating new cells, waking up the collagen and elastin to rise to the surface and “pump it up”. That is why the best dermatologists, and plastic surgeons recommend her treatments to assist in pre and postoperative care.

For the Power Lunch Primer, you will have a double blast of services, combining the power peel with the latest in body care, the Vacuum-mobilization Pressotherapy treatment. Here is where the fun begins!

The best way to explain this is to tell you my experience.

I have been a client of Maria's for a couple of years. As a journalist, specializing in beauty and spas treatments, I must admit I have had it all. In fact, I have traveled the world and experienced the best of the best. From Bali to Thailand, from Vegas to New York City: you name it, I've tried it!

As a young teenager, my mother sent me off to Manhattan to the absolute best dermatologist to make sure my skin was perfectly clean and clear. I had facials at the doctor's office that were not like the one's we get in the spas or salons. This was pure torture, with a magnifying mirror and a doctor's heavy hand. My mother was of German heritage and had to make sure her offspring adhered to the most scientific beauty regimen. My pores were micro-managed on a monthly basis so that my hormonally active skin would never show signs of teenage lust. This type of facial utilizing pore extractions is still used by many salon aestheticians today. It is amazing how this archaic procedure is still being utilized. (After all, this is the 21st Century!)

Throughout the years I have done the route of aestheticians, glycolic facials, and mild chemical peels as well as other minor procedures at dermatologist's offices. I finally found Maria and am no longer doing anything else for my skin except what she tells me. Having experienced such great results with her unique combo of microdermabrasion and oxygen, I decided to go for the whole body treatment. I had the pleasure of meeting Victoria Lee who is an expert in the latest body contouring treatment for spider veins, lymphatic and body/face drainage as well as cellulite therapy. I must say that everyone in Maria's salon is the perfect example of "walking the talk." They are in excellent shape, and have glowing skin and buff bodies.

When Victoria invited me to try out this power-packed lunch combo, I was thrilled. I was also a bit nervous. I have had the power facial but never tried the pressotherapy progressive lymphatic drainage treatment with the machine. It is just a mouthful to say it all!

In my research, I had seen the machine utilized in the medical profession for special post-operative conditions, such as lymphadema (intense swelling of the limbs). My first impression, after learning about this was that it would be the ideal solution for helping to get rid of cellulite and toxins for healthy people as well. It was the perfect solution. Unfortunately, no one was utilizing this method for that purpose. Victoria is now one of the pioneers of this method of utilizing Vacuum-mobilization Pressotherapy as a preventative measure for the purpose of healthy lymph drainage. In fact, the proper drainage of the lymph glands is now known to be an integral part of an anti-aging regimen. The overall effect is to improve circulation, get rid of toxins and impurities throughout the system. In this day and age, it is not enough to just focus on cellulite or spider veins, but the root causes are dealt with in this treatment as a preventative measure. I was thrilled to see that someone had finally figured this out.

I was taken into a treatment room and totally pampered by a licensed massage therapist, Lynda Croner and she started prepping my skin with gel and then moving a suction cup around my well padded areas. This stimulated all the stuff inside and got the energy flowing. I had a body sloughing massage with some incredible herbal cream that smelled and felt fabulous. Then I was brought to the treatment room with the lymphatic drainage machine. My legs were covered with plastic and then the boots were carefully fitted all the way up my legs and there was a hip belt around my middle.

At the same time, a beautiful angel appeared and calmed me down, because I was beginning to feel uncomfortable with these inflatable leg "warmers" all the way up to my poopic. Kathleen Boniface was massaging my face with her healing hands and preparing me for the Maria de Sio special. "Get two with egg roll" or a double dip of fun! The machine started doing it's intermittent pneumatic compression and at first I was not sure if it new when to stop squeezing. After all, it's just a machine. Victoria assured me that it was pressurized to my body weight and would have an automatic cut-off. I was totally relaxed and forgot about my fears of the unknown.

Then, my microdermabrasion facial started happening and my mind were taken off the lymphatic drainage machine, with the vasoconstrictions. The "vigorous vasomotor stimulation" became invigorating, as I pictured my thighs being contoured to look like the model on the cover of Sports Illustrated Bikini issue.

I realized the massive drainage of my tissues would increase vascular tissue tone I got used to the tightening around my legs rising up towards my heart in wave-like increments and began envisioning myself at the water's edge. There I was in my string bikini (or probably a thong) as the warm sea liquid covered my tight body. Back to reality, as the microdermabrasion was sandblasting the top layer of skin around my mid-forties crow's feet and smile lines. I guess I'm glad they're smiling lines instead of frown lines. Kathleen was telling me all about her wonderful life story so I could keep from focusing on all the activities going on around me. I became tranquil and had a very peaceful calming experience.

When the oxygen and layers of minerals were covering my face, I realized I had drifted off into a stress-free mode that was better than a just a massage or acupuncture. I could feel the instant results in not only my body but also my face, at the same time. When I left the salon, I was totally in bliss. By the way, my 16-year-old puppy was in surgery all day and I could have been in a severe state of panic. So this definitely got my mind off of the stress and into another world. (Without a Valium!)

I know this treatment works, because I could actually look at my legs in the rear view mirror tonight with the light on and not get panicked. Just think what a series of twelve will do for my self-esteem, let alone my new Brazilian bikini! Call 310.553.9404 today!
