01 Depart West Coast for China
Depart LAX or SFO for Beijing on Air China's non-stop
flight. Cross the international dateline.
Day
02 Beijing
On arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred
to New World Courtyard Hotel or similar.
Day
03 Beijing / Baoding / Beijing

Depart today on a 2-hour drive to Mancheng, to visit
the Han tombs. See the "jade grave clothes sewn
with gold thread" and visit the excavation site.
Return to Beijing later that day.

04 Beijing

Full day excursion to the Great Wall. Visit Dingling
Underground Palace at Ming Tombs and see two exhibition
halls of unearthed relics, including Emperor Wanli's
gold filigree crown and the Empress' phoenix crown.

05 Beijing / Xi'an
(B, D)
Depart Beijing for Xian by air. Upon arrival, meet
/ transfer to Sheraton Xi’an. Visit the Yangling
Mausoleum including a lecture on archaeological discovery.

06 Xi'an (B,
L, D)
Visit the terra-cotta warrior and horse museum of
Emperor Qin Shihuang and the Tang Dynasty mural paintings
in the Shaanxi Museum of History.

07 Xi'an / Chengdu

Depart Xian for Chengdu by air. Upon arrival, meet
/ transfer to Holiday Inn. Visit Marquis Wu Shrine
and Du Fu's thatched cottage, home of a great poet
of the Tang Dynasty.

08 Chengdu

A full day excursion to the San Xing Dui Museum, a
state of the art museum featuring regional history
over the past 3,000 years. In the evening, sample
tea at a traditional teahouse while watching a local
opera performance.

09 Chengdu / Lhasa / Zedang

This morning depart Chengdu for Lhasa, Tibet by air.
Upon arrival, meet / transfer to Zedang Hotel. Afternoon
visit to Yumbu La Kang. Built for the first Tibetian
king, in a castle style, two thousand years ago. Also
this afternoon visit the Tombs of Tibetan Kings.

10 Zedang / Lhasa (B, L, D)
Morning tour / visit to Samye Monastery and then return
to Lhasa by private coach and check in Lhasa Hotel
for 2 nights with all meals.

11 Lhasa

Full-day tour to the main tourist attractions. The
Potala Palace, former living quarters of the Dalai
Lama, is a massive 1000-room-structure towering over
this mountain city. Jokhang Temple, which contains
Buddhism's most sacred treasures, is where pilgrims
come to prostrate themselves before this old golden
Buddha. Shopping lovers will enjoy treasure hunting
during the visit io the Bharkar Bazaar. Visit Norbulingka
- the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama.

12 Lhasa - Chengdu - Shanghai

Depart Lhasa this morning by air for Chengdu where
you will board your connecting flight to Shanghai.
Upon arrival, visit the Old Town, Yu Garden, the lively
Bund and Jade Buddha Temple. Enjoy a performance of
the famous Shanghai acrobatics troupe in the evening.
Check into Huating Hotel.

13 Shanghai

Visit the Shanghai Museum where rare treasures are
on display. Shopping along Nanjing Road.
Day
14 Shanghai / LAX / SFO
(B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight out of Shanghai
for LAX / SFO on China Air. Arrive in the US same
day.
