Educational Programs

We start our Rhine River Cruise experience in Frankfurt, Germany. We will see the sights of Frankfurt, including Goethe’s House and the Sachsenhausen area. We continue on to Koblenz where we board our river boat for a 4-day cruise on the Rhine River with stops in Rudesheim, Speyer or Mannheim and finishing in Strasbourg.

Continue our tour by bus to Dijon, France, known for it’s wonderful champagne. Wine tasting at a local vineyard before departing for Zurich, Switzerland. Visit Lucerne, Engelberg and Mount Titlis.

 

Day 1 - Tuesday August 7, 2007 - U.S.A. / Frankfurt
Departure from U.S.A. to Frankfurt, Germany.

Day 2 - Wednesday August 8, 2007 - Frankfurt (D)
Arrival in Frankfurt. Upon your arrival you will be met outside of baggage claim and transferred to your hotel. Tonight you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner where you can meet and get to know your fellow
travelers. (Hotel Marriott Frankfurt or similar)

Day 3 - Thursday August 9, 2007 - Frankfurt (B)
After breakfast you will depart the hotel for a half-day city tour of Frankfurt, including a visit to Goethe’s House. The afternoon will be free to shop or explore at your leisure.

Day 4 - Friday August 10, 2007 - Frankfurt (B)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Sachsenhausen area in Frankfurt where you will have the afternoon at leisure to explore before your return to the hotel.

Day 5 - Saturday August 11, 2007 - Frankfurt / Koblenz (B, D)
After breakfast you will be transferred to Koblenz in time to board your ship for your 4-Day Rhine River Cruise. Embarkation in Koblenz will take place around 2:00pm for those passengers arriving by motorcoach with lunch on your own at a local Koblenz restaurant. Time is allowed to settle into your cabin. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a visit to the “old town” area of Koblenz, which is led by the ship’s hostess. Return on-board in time for dinner with the evening free in Koblenz.

Day 6 - Sunday August 12, 2007 - Koblenz / Rudesheim (B, L, D)
This ship will depart from Koblenz at about 8:00am with breakfast onboard. Our cruise today is on the most beautiful part of the Romantic Rhine River between Koblenz and Rudesheim. We will pass alongside many castles nestled in the famous vineyards and legendary Loreley Rock. The ship is scheduled to arrive in Rudesheim at 5:00pm. There will be shopping opportunities and sightseeing on your own until 7:00pm. There is also an optional sightseeing tour offered for those interested. Both lunch and dinner are on-board the ship with the evening free to explore the clubs, taverns and dance halls found along the famous Drosselgasse.

Day 7 - Monday August 13, 2007 - Rudesheim / Heidelberg / Speyer or Mannheim (B, L, D)
Breakfast and lunch is on-board the ship with an early morning departure from Rudesheim towards Speyer. Enroute, the ship will pass alongside the cities of Weisbaden, Nierstein, Worms and Mannheim. There will be an optional sightseeing tour offered to Heidelberg, which will also include a visit to the famous Heidelberg Castle. The ship will overnight in either Speyer or Mannheim depending on pier availability, with arrival at about 6:00pm. Tonight, the Captain’s Evening and dinner is scheduled onboard.



Day 8 - Tuesday August 14, 2007 - Speyer or Mannheim / Strasbourg / Dijon, France (B, L)

Breakfast is on-board the ship with an early morning departure for Strasbourg. Before reaching Strasbourg, we will pass through Lauterbourg and the two largest locks on the Rhine River, Iffezheim and Gambsheim. Lunch is on-board the ship with arrival and disembarkation scheduled in Strasbourg between 3:00-4:00pm at the Quai des Belges. You will be met by your guide and transferred via motorcoach to Dijon for your overnight stay. (Hotel Mercure Dijon or similar)

Day 9 - Wednesday August 15, 2007 - Dijon / Basel / Zuirch, Switzerland (B, L)
After breakfast you will depart for your morning sightseeing tour of the local vineyards. You will have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on to Zurich by way of Basel. (Hotel Intercontinental Zurich or similar)

Day 10 - Thursday August 16, 2007 - Zurich (B)
After breakfast you will board your motorcoach for a full day excursion to Lucerne and Mount Titlis. A pleasant ride takes you to the mountain resort of Engelberg where you will board the aerial cableway. A 45-minute journey through many changes of scenery from the green valley bottom up into the high alpine glacier region offers spectacular views of the glacier crevasses and icefalls directly from the cable car. Enjoy the ride in the world’s innovative revolving cable car, the “Rotair”. Possibility to have lunch in the Panorama Restaurant on the summit at 10,000 feet overlooking the Swiss Alps. After the descent and a short ride, you will arrive in the picturesque town of Lucerne. Time a leisure (approx. 1 hour) for sightseeing and shopping before the motorcoach takes you back to Zurich.

Day 11 - Friday August 17, 2007 - Zurich (B, D)
Today you have the full day at leisure to shop or explore on your own. Tonight you will be transferred to a local restaurant for a Farewell Dinner.

Day 12 - Saturday August 18, 2007 - Zurich / U.S.A. (B)
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home.
