This tour takes us on a classic route around Iceland, emphasizing Iceland’s unique natural wonders. Our experienced guide will take us to Iceland’s most beautiful gems and introduce us to the nation’s history, culture and way of life.
What better way to start our trip than at the legendary Blue Lagoon, renowned for its healing powers. Visit the colorful region of Landmannalaugar and Iceland’s most active volcano, Mt. Hekla. This journey takes us through deserts and mountain lakes to the colorful rhyolite peaks that surround the hot springs of Landmannalaugar.

Day 1 - Wednesday June 27, 2007 - U.S.A. / Keflavik, Iceland
Departure from U.S.A. to Keflavik, Iceland.
Day 2 - Thursday June 28, 2007 - Keflavik / Blue Lagoon / Reykjavik
After being met at Keflavik airport by your guide, you will depart for the Blue Lagoon, a unique wonder of nature. After a stop for a refreshing swim in the pleasantly warm water, continue on to Reykjavik for an overnight stay.
Day 3 - Friday June 29, 2007 - South Shore (B, D)
Depart from Reykjavik to Haverageroi, where geothermal energy has been extensively harnessed for the greenhouse industry. Through the rich farmlands onwards to majestic mountains, where the renowned volcano Hekla can be seen on a clear day. Travel to Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, two of the numerous waterfalls along the coast. On to Dyrholaey nature reserve, a magnificent cliff projecting into the ocean. Continue to Kirkjubaejarklaustur, former catholic convent site in the 12th century, for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Saturday June 30, 2007 - Skaftafell National Park / Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon (B, D)
Depart Kirkjubaejarklaustur, traveling thru Skeioararsandur outwash plains, to Skaftafell National Park. One of Iceland’s most outstanding points of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest ice cap. Enjoy the contrast of lush vegetation and barren slopes and the magnificent views one gets of the peaks in Skaftafell. Continue to the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to see the immense floating icebergs.
Optional: Boat tour on the glacial lagoon (summertime).
Day 5 - Sunday July 1, 2007 - Landmannalaugar or Porsmork Valley (B, D)
The tour follows the Fjallabasksleio interior track to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains. Enjoy hiking in this exceptional area with the possibility afterwards to bathe in a warm natural brook. From Landmannalaugar continue on to Pjorsardalur Valley, once a fertile farming community, now laid waste by a devastating eruption of volcano Hekla in the 12th century.
Day 6 - Monday July 2, 2007 - Gullfoss / Geysir / Pingvellir (B, D)
Depart for the Geysir geothermal area to see the famous great Geysir and the hot spring Strokkur as it spouts every few minutes. On to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls. The next stop is Pingvellir National Park, a place of tremendous interest as a primary site of both Iceland’s geological and historical inheritance.

Day 7 - Tuesday July 3, 2007 - Pingvellir / Borgarfjorour Valley (B, D)
Morning drive from Pingvellir accross the Kaldidalur highland trail to the woods of Husafell. On to Hraunfossar Falls and the historic Reykholt, home of medieval chieftain, scholar and poet Snorri Sturluson. Last stop at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring.
Day 8 - Wednesday July 4, 2007 - Stykkisholmur / Reykjavik (B)
Drive through the Myrar district through moors and lava fields and past the extinct volcanic crater Eldborg. On a clear day you can enjoy a view of the mystic Snaefellsjokull Glacier. From Stykkisholmur enjoy a fantastic boat trip on Breioafjorour Fjord, famous for its countless islands and abundant bird life. Back to Reykjavik in the afternoon.
Day 9 - Thursday July 5, 2007 - Keflavik / U.S.A. (B)
Transfer to Keflavik airport for your return flight.
